The division ITER Technology & Diagnostics (ITED) of the Max-Planck-Institut für Plas-maphysik offers an opportunity to participate in research activities in the framework of Eu-ropean projects for the international fusion device ITER. We are looking for a

    postdoctoral fellow

to contribute to the development of the bolometer and neutral pressure gauge diagnostics of the international fusion device ITER. For both diagnostics prototype tests of sensors and diagnostic components need to be carried out and evaluated to validate the develop-ment results. The task of the candidate is to support the team in the ITER Diagnostics group by identifying, planning, defining, executing, evaluating and documenting the re-quired prototype tests with a strong interaction with the European and International part-ners, in particular Fusion for Energy and the ITER organisation. This includes tests of sensors as well as diagnostic components within the labs of IPP and within external facili-ties.

Requirement is a completed doctoral thesis, preferably, but not necessarily in the field of plasma physics. Strong experimental skills and a strong ability to interpret experimental data, as well as a strong academic record is expected. Good communication skills and the ability to work and integrate in a team are expected.

We offer interesting and diversified tasks, to work in a dynamic, international and interdis-ciplinary environment and to participate in developments for ITER within the framework of European projects.

The position is limited to the current duration of contracts of 3 years. The salary is accord-ing to the German Public Service Tariff (TVöD Bund) grade 13.
