Accelerating Nuclear Simulations on multi-core CPU and GPU technologies
PARALUTION (http://www.paralution.com/) is a software that provides state-of-the-art iterative sparse linear solvers to utilize the full power of modern multi-core CPU and accelerator technologies (such as Graphics Cards (GPUs) and accelerator (MIC/Xeon Phi) architectures). The collaboration with INR started with the implementation of PARALUTION into the neutron diffusion code COBAYA3
(http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.anucene.2014.08.005) code where we obtained 2.56x and 5.15x speed-ups on CPU and GPU devices. Currently, we work on the application of this technology to other industrial nuclear simulators. The PARALUTION project is funded by the EXIST program (http://www.exist.de/) which is subsidized by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie, Europäischer Sozialfonds and the EU commission.
